A group of the Nakuru community health volunteer trainees

Congratulations to the team at Nakuru Hospice and the 76 Community Health Volunteers who have just completed their training in palliative care. To widen access to palliative care across the county we supported Nakuru Hospice to train volunteers from rural sub-counties in the furthest corners of the county; from Naivasha to Kuresoi and Subukia. General nurses trained last year were engaged in leading the training sessions to build a strong palliative care team and make sure that the volunteers are well supported in the future. The training was well received as despite regularly caring for cancer patients the volunteers had no previous palliative care training and hadn’t heard of the hospice.
