The 7th Kenya Hospices and Palliative Care Association (KEHPCA) Conference is taking place this week in Mombasa, bringing together healthcare professionals, policymakers and partners committed to strengthening palliative care across Kenya. The conference provides an important platform to share learning, showcase innovation and promote collaboration to improve access to quality palliative care for patients and families nationwide.

Dr Sarah Onyango, HCK board member, speaks about our work at the conference

Hospice Care Kenya is proud to be part of this year’s conference. Our Board member, Dr Sarah Onyango, delivered a presentation highlighting Hospice Care Kenya’s ongoing involvement in supporting the development of palliative care services in Kenya and the importance of partnership working in expanding sustainable, community-based care.

We are also pleased to have provided sponsorship for five nurses to attend the conference. Each nurse is presenting the results of palliative care projects implemented in partnership with Hospice Care Kenya, demonstrating the practical impact of locally led initiatives to improve patient care. Supporting opportunities for healthcare professionals to share their experience and learning is an important part of strengthening palliative care services for the future.
